Important Scotus Case

In school we have been studying various court cases that have set guidelines for future cases. The one that was most important to me was the Santa Fe Independent School District v. Jane Doe. In 2000 A High School would lead a Christian prayer before a football game. The prayer was optional but a Mormon woman who went by the name Jane Doe took the case to court. She fought hard and won the case in the Supreme Court. The prayer was no longer continued. I believe this is the right decision because no one should feel required to pray. I know it technically was optional but you would feel awkward not praying, surrounded by praying people. This case is important to me because everyone has a different opinion about it , and since you can look at it from so many different angles it's interesting to learn about and debate.

Gifted

Sometimes all people do is wish they were gifted. You get to go to a special class. Everything comes easily to you. You get good grades so your parents are never angry at you. You don't have to worry about math grades or science projects. That is the biggest lie that has ever been told in a million years.

Its true we get a special class. It's also true that our lessons come easily to us. But what do we do when everyone else is still working. We sit there. very bored. sometimes for 15 minutes or more. And don't you realize that the higher your grades are the higher your parents want the to be. Sometimes it gets to the point were only a 100% is acceptable. As for math grades and science projects sure their a bit easier for us but we still have to worry about them. Then thiers the whole social aspect of being gifted.  Its a lot harder for kids that are gifted to fit in with everyone else simply because we're different. In many ways gifted is a good thing. And gifted is labeled as a good thing in many other ways. The American Academy of Children and Teenage Phycology says "there are a number of benifets typically assiciated with bieng identified as a gifted child. What people don't realize is that it's a curse too.

Another assumtion made about gifted kids it that we are more mature than other kids, But we're not. It's called asynchronis development. our minds develope faster than our emotions. sometimes people expect us to be mature but we arent.

all about me (and maybe some other stuff)

Hi. My name is Sam. I am in 8th grade. my favorite subjects in school are rogate, theatre, and career launch. I also like chinese. I do not like geography. My favorite topics to learn about is anything I don't already know ( unless it's geography) but, my favorites are technology and important people. In my free time i like to do community theater, read, and hang out with my dog ( and my friends too). I have no idea what I want to be when i grow up. Many things make me happy, including cupcakes, music, and other people being happy.
